What is Family Life Education?
Family Life Education is different than therapy but there are a lot of similarities when it comes to helping families. An FLE focuses on helping families and individuals to develop and identify their strengths in order to reach their desired potential in their relationships. This is a focus on prevention education rather than "fixing" areas that need fixing.
What are your qualifications?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Human Development & Family Studies from Warner Pacific University and a Master's Degree in Family Science from Concordia University, St. Paul.
I was a Certified Family Life Educator through the NCFR for 6 years and have worked with parents and families in multiple capacities since 2011.
Why online courses?
I have taught in person courses as well as online course but I am solely focusing on online courses right now to offer as many courses as I can and allow you to be able to go at your own pace, educate yourself from wherever you feel comfortable, and to make it easy for as many people across the lifespan.
Courses will be available for almost all ages and they come in an array of different topics depending on my knowledge and your needs. I am currently focusing on parenting and couple courses. "Family" is a general term I will always use which can mean an unmarried couple living apart, a five person family living together, or whatever your family looks like - we are here for you! What platform do you use for online courses?
I currently use CANVAS. It is free for you to use after the purchase of an online course. It is very user friendly and offers a variety of teaching styles in every course (videos, worksheets, and reading).
Depending on the course, we will occasionally do LIVE video sessions where we can chat one on one or in a group of others learning alongside you in your course.
After a course is completed, you are invited to a Facebook group specific to your course to receive additional resources and community with others in the same boat as you.
